An integral part of legal excellence is community and public service. The legal fraternity has a larger responsibility to contribute their privileges to benefit the last mile. The firm takes immense pride in its deeply engrained culture of productively using legal expertise for the larger good. We continually partner and support social impact and not-for-profit organisations across the globe as part of our pro-bono services. Over the past years, we have showcased commitment and expressed gratitude by providing pro-bono services to over 25 not-for-profit start-ups and have worked with reputed Indian and international organisations on a wide array of matters, from structuring to foreign contribution, tax implications, beneficiary rights, strategy feasibility and corporate social responsibility. We continue to participate in mentoring social impact organisations as part of incubator and accelerator organisations like The/Nudge Foundation, and conducting training sessions for laws intersecting this sector.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the firm has expended several hours helping fundraising and COVID relief implementation activities of India’s forerunning crowdfunding platform, Give Foundation. Our team was also instrumental in framing COVID-19 relief taskforce which is a consortium of various early stage and matured not-for-profits that leveraged telehealth to make COVID-19 prevention healthcare more accessible. While providing legal services to our social impact clients, we adopt a cross-jurisdictional approach, lay special emphasis on understanding the sensitivities associated, and in turn, aim to aid creation of accountable and transparent governance mechanisms for a more beneficial and progressive ecosystem of funders and implementing organisations.
